Elizabeth T. Solberg

Betsey Solberg has been active in the business and civic community in Greater Kansas City as well as around the world for much of the past 30 years.

In business, she opened Fleishman’s second office, in Kansas City, and played a role in the firm’s massive growth to 83 offices worldwide. During that time she served as regional president/sr. partner as well as a leader in expansion of the firm’s Canadian and Southeast Asian operations. She received national recognition for her work with corporate clients involving toxic waste, employee strikes and financial crises, among others. She retired as an officer of the firm in 2006 but returned in 2009 as an executive consultant.

Betsey chairs the Kansas City Police Foundation and the UMKC Foundation and is vice-chair of the Truman Library Institute and chair of its governance committee. She is a member of the Boards of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, the Bloch Endowment for the School of Business and Management and the UMKC Trustees. She is past chair of the Civic Council, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City, the Missouri Finance Board and the Kansas City Area Development Council. Previous boards include Starlight Theater, Union Station, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, Pembroke Hill School, the Kansas City Club and Midwest Research Institute. Previously, she was a member of the boards of Midwest Airlines, Ferrellgas and Kansas City Life. She was national membership chair of the Public Relations Society of America.

She was born and raised in Dallas, TX, and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She and her husband, Rick, are Flint Hills, KS, ranchers and she is a weekend ceramic potter. They have three grandchildren.
