Mark C. Thompson
Mark Thompson joined the Country Club Bank organization in 1996, and currently holds the executives titles of Chairman of Country Club Trust Company, N.A., Vice Chairman of country club Bank and President of the parent holding company, CCB Financial Corporation.
In his executive role, Mark also serves on the Board of Directors of these three organizations. He also is an office and member of the Board of Directors of Country Club banks sister bank, Platte Valley Bank, which has locations in Platte, Clay and Clinton counties, Missouri. He previously served as Chairman of Allen Bank and Trust Company in Harrisonville, Missouri, another sister bank of Country Club Bank, until it merged into Country Club Bank in 2009.
After earning both an undergraduate and law dgree from Georgetwon University in Washington D.C., and servings as the Assistant tot he Provost for two years, Mark began his professional career in 1988 as an attorney with the Spencer Fane Britt & Browne law firm in Kansas City. IN 1991, he was appointed an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri where he served for five years, primarily in the Financial Fraud Unit. While in this role, he was recognized by, among others, the Inspector General of the Resolution Trust Corporation for his outstanding effort in and internal corruption prosecution. He also prosecuted, appealed and shepherded a fraud on financial institutions case to the United States Supreme Court which resulted in a successful government outcome.
Mark is very active in the Kansas City community and has served on numerous boards of civic, charitable, academic and alumni organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the St. Luke’s Foundation, the Board of Trustees for MRI Global, and serves as the Governor of the American Royal. He also serves on the Board of The Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, Avila University, KCPT-19 public television, the Harry S. Truman Good Neighbor Award Foundation, and the Ignatian Spirituality Center.
His community work has brought Mark award and recognition for his significant contributions. He was presented the Chief’s Baton by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department for his four years on the Kansas City, Missouri’s Board of Police Commissioners, and was recognized for the Outstanding Dedicated Service to the Board of the Police Commissioners’ Office of Community Complaints and Residents of Kansas City. He was also an honoree for the Scout Award from the Native Sons of Greater Kansas City and was selected by Ingram’s magazine as a member of the “40 Under Forty” Class of 2000.
