Through donor-supported investments, the Foundation continues helping the Kansas City Missouri Police Department (KCPD) modernize its operations. “If we can decrease even 10% of the workload, that’s 10% more time officers can give back to the community,” Grant said. “It creates more opportunities to be proactive problem solvers instead of simply reacting to calls.”

One of the most significant initiatives supported by the Police Foundation of Kansas City was helping bring body cameras to KCPD officers approximately six years ago. The implementation process required deliberate planning and strong community involvement. Policies and procedures surrounding body camera usage were developed intentionally and in collaboration with a select committee of community members to guide implementation and policy development. Today, body cameras are one part of a broader network of integrated technology systems that help provide objective documentation, strengthen investigations, improve information-sharing, and support coordinated response efforts.
