Everyone Wants to Feel Safe
Join us in building a stronger, safer Kansas City.
Everyone wants to feel safe. It’s a basic need and a fundamental right we all share, regardless of who we are or where we live. It’s time to break the cycle of violent crime and work together as a community to create a safer region for all. The Police Foundation of Kansas City is committed to ensuring safety isn’t just a hope, but a reality.
Our belief is simple: Everyone in Kansas City deserves to feel safe. Part of achieving this requires a well-funded, best-in-class and accountable police department. Our pillars—Intervention, Accountability, Prevention—guide our actions as we work tirelessly to make our community safer. We’re not just talking about change; we’re creating it.
How Your Support Helps
Your contribution to the Police Foundation of Kansas City will not only support crime reduction equipment and training, but will also help by building a safer Kansas City through community collaboration, keeping everyone safe.
INTERVENTION
By actively intervening with focused deterrence in situations that pose a risk to public safety, we aim to disrupt the cycle of violent crime and provide immediate support to those in need. We have prioritized funding initiatives that support KCPD’s intervention methods through digital forensic software and staff, virtual reality training, resources for detectives, and more. While much of our funding goes towards intervention initiatives, there is so much more to policing outside of enforcement.
ACCOUNTABILITY
To ensure that our police department operates with transparency and responsibility, we hold ourselves and our officers to the highest standards to build trust within the community. Building accountability through data and teamwork is one of the highest priorities of Chief Stacey Graves’ Crime Plan, and we fully support her mission to make Kansas City a safer place.
PREVENTION
We focus on preventing crime before it happens through proactive measures and community programs, fostering a safer environment for everyone in Kansas City. We do this mostly by working with and providing resources for KCPD’s Community Engagement Division. By viewing crime through a people-centered lens and looking at its underlying causes, we can work to reduce crime through improving quality of life for our citizens.
