PROJECTS
Since 2014, the generosity of our community has funded 136 investments in a safer Kansas City. Here is what that looks like.

individual projects and grants funded
$21.6M+

12
years of sustained community support
Every project on this page began the same way: the Kansas City Missouri Police Department identified a specific need, often something the city budget could not cover, and brought it to the Foundation. We researched it, weighed its impact, and, thanks to this community's generosity, funded it.
That is why this list is more than a record of spending. It is a record of needs met, one by one, each chosen because everyone wants to feel safe.

From the department's real-time investigative software to the network of cameras and license-plate readers that help detectives connect the dots, these are the tools that help solve cases faster and prevent the next one. Recent examples include the Peregrine investigative software platform and a citywide expansion of camera systems from the River Market to the Plaza.
When seconds matter, a drone can reach a scene faster than anyone, giving officers a clear picture before they arrive and helping keep both residents and officers safe. The community has funded the department's drone program from its earliest days through today's Drones as First Responders initiative.
They track, they protect, and they are beloved members of the force. Community support has funded new canine partners across the department including for the Bomb and Arson Unit, along with their training and for their care and well-being.
The people who protect and serve Kansas City carry a heavy weight. These investments from a dedicated staff psychologist program to trauma and resilience training, help officers stay healthy and supported.
A well-trained department is a safer department for everyone. Community support has funded courses in constitutional policing, crisis intervention and de-escalation, homicide investigation, and more.
From Social Service Specialists to Coats for Kids to back-to-school block parties, these investments strengthen the trust between officers and the community they serve.
When the department needs to respond to its largest challenges, it needs the right equipment. The community has funded major assets like the Mobile Command Response Vehicle and the Bomb and Arson Response Vehicle — resources that serve the entire community.
$3.07 million
The single largest investment in our history. When the community came together to fund body-worn cameras for the entire department, it did more than buy equipment, it invested in transparency, accountability, and trust between officers and the people they serve.
$2.1 million
When Kansas City faces its biggest moments — a major event, a large-scale emergency — the department needs a command center that can go anywhere. Through an ARPA grant, this vehicle serves the entire city, coordinating the response when it matters most.
$600,000 and growing
A program that has changed how the department responds. By getting eyes on a scene in seconds, drones help officers understand a situation before they arrive, protecting the public and officers alike. The community's continued support is now funding its expansion.
$1 million
Technology is only as good as the people who use it. This investment embedded skilled analysts within the department, assisting detectives to turn data into solved cases and bringing answers to families waiting for them.
We believe in complete transparency. Explore the full record of everything the community has funded.
